Bits
and pieces from Gordon:
Notes from Anna Anderson Gregg:
(Note:
We never know with whom we will be reconnected through this site. I
received the following notes from one visitor, and am sharing excerpts
with all of you. I have placed a picture of her from our '59 yearbook to
jar any poor memories. Gordon)
An
update from Anna: (I wish other classmates were as dedicated in telling
us their news. gr)
I want to let you know that as much
as I would like to, I am unable to come to the alumni gathering in
October. My son & daughter-in-law have asked me to
take care of their children on that date... and I do love spending
time with them!
I hope to be able to come to the
next reunion. Please keep me posted as to the dates
and other information of upcoming events. I will keep in touch as
well. I look forward to seeing you and others in the future.
I would like you and other
interested persons to know I have a good life... the Lord has
been very good to me. He has given me three sons, three
wonderful daughters-in-law, and currently three grandchildren (two
boys and a girl.) I live alone and rather like my independence.
I am building a Home Based Business that lets me help
others gain better health, personal growth, and financial
freedom.
I do remember Shirley Knapp. The names of the others, the
names Jennifer and Judy I remember, but can't put faces to them, do
they still live in Stockton as well?, and I don't
remember the name John Wulff, but may remember the face if I saw it.
Nat Demotte is one I remember when
I was looking last night....or I should say early this a.m!
I have often wished I had a
yearbook. I'll have to go back to your site and look more
closely at the names....I will do that later today.
I have three boys, all
married and I am a grandmother, (Nana)....my eldest and his wife are
expecting their first child in a few days....that will make me a
Nana of three. I did raise my boys as a single parent, (not
my choice)...and am still single.
A lot has happened in the past 40 years....I look forward to
keeping in touch.
You said you would be sharing some of my e-mail with some
of the others. I wonder, do they remember me?
A note from Jean Landeen:
The reunion was great, but with the web site I have learned more about
some of the folks that I had little time to talk to. I find it
fascinating that this little 'ole class of 133 has so many interesting
lives. And to believe that we are maturing so marvelously despite our
individual physical, family and
employment challenges.
The Photos are great. I have yet to get my film developed. I only wish I
had not been so scared that my hat would come off during the reunion
that I was
weak on my smile in the pictures.
An
update from Joyce Neylon Newell:
As
you know, the reason Deanna didn't make the reunion was because of
back surgery. (Her e-mail has been entered
in directory) She is doing great in her recovery.
Because of your website, Lynette Guinn contacted me to give me a
Weekenders clothing order. I can't wait to tell that story when
I get to Florida next week for the Weekenders Fall Conference--haven't
seen her in 40 years and we're doing business by email because of your
website.
I do check the website and enjoyed the updates from people who didn't
make it to the reunion-like Carol Bridgeford. Sorry I don't have
any great news to add to the site, but keep it going
After
hearing from Willie Hinds yesterday, I added him to my AOL Buddy List
and found him online this morning. We started a chat, but he decided to
call. Said I was putting his typing skills to the max!
He's
a grandpa 6 times, and working for a dredging company. That work has
taken him to the entire coast of California, Oregon and Washington; to
Boston and Salt Lake City, and even to Egypt. Went into a grocery store
in Ft Bragg when he was working in that area and ran into Rick Ramos.
* Ran
into Dorinda Jacobs at the store on July 4. She is now the grandmother
of 6! She is also a "Motorcycle Momma," and goes on rides with
her husband. One day, they stopped in Lockeford and had breakfast with
Pam Yager and her husband. Just to prove she is still hopping, Dorinda
is coming with hubby to the reunion on their Harleys!
*Visited
Dennis Moore in St Joseph's hospital on June 27. He ruined Father's Day this
year by running his motorcycle off the road, and shattered a bone in his
leg. Now has pins and metal rod in right leg, and would really enjoy
getting cards of good wishes from all of us. (See
Directory for address.)

(Jean) Lydia Kuhn
Sorry
I missed the reunion. Helen (Renney Bustamante) called me on
Sunday and told me that she had a good time and that there was an
opportunity to really mix and talk to everyone.
I
will be retiring from the Fresno County Library on January 31, 2003
after 34 years. Looking forward to having time for a real life.
You need to come for a visit so I can hear all the gossip.
Will you be reading The Grapes of Wrath this October?
From
David Chezan:
40
Years! Well it has been that long since I have spoken to anyone from
school.
Some years ago I saw Ralph Fratta and worked briefly with Jim
Barcus before he died but that was about it.
From
Lynette Guinn:
I
really didn't know that many of you very well but I would truly love to
see you.
Unfortunately I won't be able to come. I'll be on island at that
time.
The years have been great. We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains
above Saratoga, Ca. I was lucky enough to get involved in
the computer industry when it was ramping up.
My husband and I both travel internationally in our jobs (I work
forApple Computer) and my son John is an international airline pilot so
we can be found on different parts of the globe at any one time.
Have a great reunion, I really wanted to make it this year.
From
Jack Weston
Thanks
for the brief bios...especially sympathetic to Dennis Moore as I
recently fully healed back up from a similar mishap, only not as severe
as Dennis' from the sound of it. I only fractured four ribs and
partially
collapsed a lung. Ah...spent youth is such a pain!
Interesting
comment re: Judy not wanting to keep coordinating the reunion because of
lack of interest. In looking at addresses of alums, the vast majority
still live either in or near Stockton. I just assumed the reunion turn
out would be quite high. Maybe most see each other on a regular basis so
why bother.
I
do hope to make it to the reunion. It would be good to see you and some
of the others.
I'll see what I can stir up in the photo department.
From
Sally Dean:
(Who
returned the end of June from a trip to China!)
Yep we made it back just fine... What
a trip!!! This was one of the most interesting vacations we've ever
taken. They really kept us busy, you can't imagine all that we saw, It
was amazing!!! We're just about recuperated from the
backwards hours and back on track at work (dammit)
From
Joyce Neylon:
I
have just been through a year of dealing with/caring for my son who has
been diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic -hardly the type of thing you
want to put on the web but it has been my existence for a year. I am, of
course, very open about it with people in general when I can discuss it
in person. I feel strongly that mental illness is not discussed or
understood enough in our society and am doing lots of volunteer time
with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI). Weekenders
is a line of women's clothing that I represent in a direct sales manner.
Accounting all the time got too boring so now I'm having some fun taking
my clothes off at parties. I
do a little accounting on a consultant basis but Weekenders is really my
passion

Just
returned from family reunion in Edmonton, Canada. Stayed at the
Fantasyland Hotel at the world's largest shopping mall. Had a great
time visiting with Canadian cousins, fourth removed, and
shopping.
The flight from Seattle was oversold so I
volunteered to spend the night sleepless in Seattle to receive a free
round trip plane ticket to anywhere served by Horizon Airlines. This
will be especially
nice to have after I retire.
Labor Day weekend I am going to El Paso for an opera with a group of
music groupies. We leave Friday and return Monday. Lots of
sightseeing
excursions planned for El Paso, New Mexico, and Juarez. I am
hoping that the flight home will be oversold so I can volunteer again.
This time Ill take a toothbrush in my purse.

I really did enjoy myself at our class reunion last month. Judy
always does a terrific job. Thanks so much Judy. It was good to see
everybody and its hard to believe 40 years has passed since we all
graduated from Lincoln High.
I'm sending you Gary DeManty's e-mail
address . He's been a life long friend of mine and best buddy and in
the Class of '62. I know he would like to hear from others. He's a
postal worker and still lives
in Stockton. Gary and I
got together last Christmas for dinner and had a great time of it.
Maybe I will see some of my old classmates at the Lincoln High Home-
coming this coming October. Gordon please find out the date for
the next Lincoln Homecoming and let folks know. Thanks
From Carol Bridgeford
I
was happy to find this Web Page--good job. I'm sorry I couldn't
make it to the reunion--it looks like it was great fun. I would
love to hear more about everyone.
I am
working as Assistant District Attorney in Tulare County--and have been
here in Visalia for about 14 years. I'm married, John Turner, 19
years now, the third time was the charm! Tell me all about yourself.
This is my computer at work--but its OK for e-mail. I also
have an AOL e-mail at cbturner2000@aol.com. Waiting to hear
from you.
Hello
Again,
I will try to keep up on e-mail but I'm not very good--I get involved
in something and forget to check my e-mail and I have 100 messages.
I have two addresses cbturner2000@aol.com and cturner@co.tulare.ca.us.
I do see John Phillips at the California District Attorney
conferences--last saw him at the summer conference in June--does he go
to reunions?? The last reunion I went to was 20 years ago with a
different husband! I love doing the work I do and love trial
work....in school I couldn't give a speech in front of the class---but
now I love to argue a case to a jury. Now I am mostly a boss- I
supervise 60 attorneys 40 Investigators and numerous support and
clerical staff--I get to do about 1 trial a year--I have one currently
scheduled for October which is a capital (death penalty) murder/rape
case of a 92 year old woman. I would love to hear all the
stories from everyone. Keep me posted--Thanks CBT
From Kit Cassaday
I was
a County Agricultural Commissioner and Sealer of Weights and Measures
in Shasta and Trinity Counties for about 20 years and retired in 1992.
Then I went out and bought a new Ranger boat and went on the Pro Bass
Tour. The first year was a blast and I kicked some ass on the
pro circuit! HOWEVER, the gods of bassdom didn't smile on me the
second year, and I was running about 50K behind when I decided that
maybe it was a good time to re-retire...About that time Senator
Johannessen called me and asked if I would like to go to work for the
state senate...
I served as an agriculture and
water consultant to the California State Senate for 2 years and 5
days... (It takes 2 years on the payroll to retire out under
Senate retirement) You can read between the lines and tell how
much I think of politicians!
Well, there is the last 30 years in
a nutshell!
From
Jenifer Bovey
I
can't believe how many of our class have stayed in or around the
Stockton area! Do you all know something I don't? I must
admit, I was amazed when I saw my old neighborhood recently... the trees
and landscaping have matured beautifully all over Lincoln Village, and
it's really very attractive. And life is undeniably more
affordable there than in San Francisco.
As for me, here's a quick thumbnail: divorced (a second time!),
living alone in my sweet little house in the Bernal Heights neighborhood
of SF, work in the finance dept of the State Bar of California (doing
payroll for its 600+ employees), keep busy with regular beach walks,
twice monthly trips to Pacific Grove to check in on Mom (who's 85,
living alone, getting pretty frail), and taking advantage of just a few
of SF's many attractions, as time permits. I'm horrified to find myself
getting genuinely old, with aches and pains, attitudes and
eccentricities...but realize I'm extremely fortunate to have good
health, dear friends and a comfortable life.

I've
been checking out the class of '62 site and I wanted to let someone know
that I wish I could be there but I will be working in Morro Bay and
can't get a Friday off. I I hate to miss a chance to see everyone, so
say hello for me. My telephone number is 707 763-6988 and
e-mail address is sandbhinds@aol.com
Hope it's a great reunion.
From
Paula Jorgenson: Have
lived in Sweden since November 1975, working teaching psychology and
have private practice. Would love to hear from old friends and
classmates at either address above (See Directory). Stockholm
is a beautiful city, and just now anyway, very cheap for Americans
because of the dollar/Swedish crown exchange rate. It would be
great to have a reunion here. I already organize a lot of courses.
But it would be so weird to meet with a bunch of classmates I hadn't
seen in 50 years! Too bad I can't come over now. I hope to
be in Carnac, in Bretagne around that time, or just home from France. I'll
look around and see if I have some photos. Tills
vidare...
From
Lou Cherniss:
Not
much news from me, we live up here in bucolic Copperopolis and pretty
much just play golf and work. We are just putting the finishing
touches on our landscaping at our home in Saddle Creek which is about
all the news I have. (See an update in the Details
page.)
